During the pandemic, many individuals lost their jobs and were confined to their homes for months. This period gave people the chance to pursue business ideas they had previously only dreamed of but never had time to explore before COVID. Mercedes Hernandez, then owner of Bow N Arrow Clothing, observed a significant surge in new millennial-owned small businesses within her community.

As COVID restrictions eased, she was inspired to foster a space that would reconnect the community while promoting the growth of these emerging entrepreneurs.

Mercedes invited 11 local small businesses to participate in the first ever SoCo Market in September of 2020. The experience and support from the community was unmatched! Mercedes grew the market and was able to expand into other local cities. 

Today, the SoCo Market runs throughout the summer season (April to August) in downtown Santa Rosa, showcasing over 80 small businesses, with exclusive events held in other local cities throughout the year!
